Yellow Cucumbers, Colochirus robustus, are found on several of the reefs scattered throughout the Indo-Pacific region. This bright yellow cucumber tends to stay in more visible locations than their sand dwelling relatives do. It uses a feathery mouth structure to filter particles of microscopic food from the water column. In captivity, foods intended for use with filter feeders will meet this animal's nutritional needs. Cucumbers have the ability to deter harassing fish by releasing a number of their internal organs. Regeneration of the lost parts occurs in nature but has a lower chance of success in an aquarium environment.
